MMA Outsider Podcast Episode 34 – UFC 141 Review, Strikeforce Preview and Bonus Danny Castillo Interview

Alos, at UFC 141, rising lightweight contender Danny Castillo picked up a big win over feared striker Anthony Njokuani. Even though Castillo took the bout on short notice, he gutted out a tough three-round decision by taking Njokuani down and imposing his will.

In this bonus episode for the week, Danny gives his thoughts on the fight and when he would like to get back in the cage. Also, since two of his Team Alpha Male teammates — Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes — have title fights on the horizon, Castillo gave his predictions on those contests as well. Spoiler alert: he doesn’t pick Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz to retain their UFC titles.

Ten Best - 2011 Import of the Year

It was disappointing to hear boos greet Danny Castillo's split decision win over Anthony Njokuani at UFC 141 last Saturday night, because if anyone deserved an ovation for his 2011 efforts, it's "Last Call," who stepped up to the plate four times, impressively defeating Joe Stevenson and Shamar Bailey and eking out a close one over Njokuani, with the only blemish being an August loss to Jacob Volkmann. So let this be an unofficial round of applause for Castillo, a fighter who has earned himself a nice little vacation.
