"Last Call" Danny Castillo (10-3) defeats "Daddy" Joe Stevenson (31-12) via Unanimous DecisionAble to survive Stevenson's takedown attempts and patented Guillotine Chokes, "Last Call" Castillo passed his first UFC test with flying colors. Danny Castillo - No More Jitters

The UFC “jitters”. They can affect the best and the brightest, vaunted rookies and seasoned veterans alike. When it’s that first time in the Octagon, fighting on the biggest stage in the world and that cage door shuts, even the toughest of fighters have gotten a taste of the jitters. Simply defined, they’re just good, old fashioned nerves and they come because, honestly, there is nothing that compares to fighting for the UFC.

On March 3rd in Louisville, Kentucky, the jitters got to Danny “Last Call” Castillo... and he still won.

“I think the jitters really hit me,” admits Castillo. “I don't think it was a sellout crowd, but wearing those black gloves and hearing Bruce Buffer and it was my first fight against a solid UFC opponent. I think I was off to a slow start, but I don't necessarily think I even lost the first round. He had a big takedown, but after that I think I won that round on my feet.”

Danny Castillo finds identity ahead of UFC on Versus 3 bout with Joe Stevenson

Had producers not decided to "go another way" casting "The Ultimate Fighter 8," Danny Castillo might have been a more famous fighter. But he certainly wouldn't have been a more humble fighter, and he might not be as far ahead in his career. Castillo (10-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) meets "The Ultimate Fighter 2″ winner Stevenson (31-12 MMA, 8-6 UFC) on Thursday at UFC on Versus 3, which takes place at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. The main card airs live on Versus, though Castillo vs. Stevenson is slated for the prelims.

"I feel like this fight's a win-win situation for me," Castillo told ProMMAnow.com. "Even worst case scenario, it's still going to be a win for me, because I'm wearing those black UFC gloves and getting in there and showcasing what I have to offer. I can't go wrong."
